DeviceCare+ Protection is an optional protection plan that provides additional coverage against accidental physical and liquid damage, beyond the standard 24-month warranty that comes with every device we sell. It is designed to cover the incidents that a standard warranty does not.
Eligibility
DeviceCare+ is only available for devices purchased directly from Mobile Federation and must be added at the time of purchase. The cover is linked to the original device and is non-transferable.
Cover period
DeviceCare+ begins from the date the device is delivered and continues for a period of 24 months, unless otherwise specified at the time of purchase. Cover will automatically expire at the end of this period.
What is covered
Subject to the terms of this policy, DeviceCare+ covers accidental physical and liquid damage that affects the functionality of the device, including:
- Accidental drops and impact damage
- Cracked or shattered screens
- Liquid damage from unintentional spills or exposure
In the event of an approved claim, Mobile Federation will, at its sole discretion:
- Repair the device; or
- Replace the device with an equivalent or better refurbished device; or
- Provide store credit equivalent to the assessed value of the device
What is not covered
DeviceCare+ does not cover:
- Loss or theft of the device
- Cosmetic damage that does not impact functionality (e.g. scratches, dents)
- Intentional damage, misuse, neglect, or reckless handling
- Damage caused by unauthorised repairs, tampering, or modifications
- Software-related issues, including viruses or performance degradation
- Normal wear and tear, including battery degradation over time
- Damage resulting from failure to take reasonable care of the device
Claim limits
DeviceCare+ allows for:
- A maximum of two (2) approved claims within any 24-month period
- Coverage up to the original purchase price of the device over the lifetime of the cover
Once these limits are reached, no further claims will be accepted.
Service fee
Every approved claim is subject to a mandatory service fee, calculated as a percentage of the original device purchase price:
-
iPhone and iPad: 15%
-
MacBook, Samsung, and Google devices: 20%
The service fee must be paid in full before any repair or replacement is initiated. Mobile Federation reserves the right to refuse or cancel a claim if the service fee is not paid within 7 days of the claim being approved.
How to claim
To make a claim under DeviceCare+, customers must:
- Contact us at support@mobilefederation.com.au with the order number and details of the incident
- Provide proof of purchase
- Follow the instructions we send for returning the device for assessment
We cover the cost of returning your device to us for assessment. All devices are inspected on receipt, and claims are subject to approval based on compliance with this policy.
Repairs and replacements
- Repairs are carried out using quality parts, which may be new or refurbished
- If your device cannot be repaired, we will replace it with the same model, condition and specification, or the nearest equivalent available
- You are entitled up to two replacement devices per cover period
- A replacement device is covered for the remaining duration of the original warranty period only — it does not start a new warranty period
Claim assessment and approval
All claims are assessed by Mobile Federation. We reserve the right to decline a claim where:
- The damage is not consistent with the reported incident
- The claim falls outside the scope of cover
- There is evidence of fraud, misuse, or breach of this policy
Cancellation and refunds
DeviceCare+ may be cancelled within 14 days of purchase, provided no claim has been made, for a full refund. After 14 days, or once a claim has been made, DeviceCare+ is non-refundable.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mobile Federation's liability under DeviceCare+ is limited to repairing the device, replacing the device, or providing store credit, as determined at our discretion. Mobile Federation is not responsible for:
- Loss of data stored on the device
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
This policy operates in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010). Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you may have under applicable law.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
General
Mobile Federation reserves the right to:
- Amend this policy at any time
- Refuse service where misuse or abuse is suspected
The version of the policy in effect at the time of purchase will apply to your cover.
