Premium Refurbished Devices with a 24-Month Warranty

2026-W43

The 24-month warranty difference: why we doubled the standard

When you buy a refurbished phone in Australia, the price gets your attention first. The warranty is the part that matters two years later. A 24 month phone warranty is still unusual in the refurbished market, where 12 months is the common figure, so we want to explain plainly why we offer it on every device, what it covers, what it does not, and how it sits alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

The quick answer

Every phone, tablet and device Mobile Federation sells comes with a 24-month warranty. If a manufacturing fault or hardware failure shows up in that time, we will repair it, replace it with the same model if it cannot be repaired, or refund you if that model is no longer available. Accidental damage, liquid damage and normal cosmetic wear are not covered. Most of the large refurbished sellers in Australia offer 12 months as standard, so ours is double the usual cover, and it sits on top of your automatic consumer guarantee rights rather than replacing them.

What is the standard refurbished phone warranty in Australia?

We checked the published policies of three well-known sellers on 19 October 2026. Back Market's help centre describes a 12-month warranty from delivery, with a 30-day change-of-mind window. Reebelo Australia's warranty and refund policy sets out a 12-month warranty and a 30-day change-of-mind return. Phonebot says its devices carry up to 12 months of warranty depending on the product, with an optional extension to 24 months on selected items.

Those are solid, clearly written policies, and 12 months is a fair baseline. We simply decided that a pre-owned phone deserved the same two years of cover people tend to expect from a new one, without paying extra for it.

Why we chose two years, not one

Most hardware faults show up early. A phone that has been properly tested and graded rarely develops a problem in its first few weeks. But some issues take longer to appear: a charging port that starts to get loose, a speaker that crackles, a battery that drops faster than it should. Those are exactly the faults that tend to arrive in the second year, just after a 12-month warranty runs out.

A 2 year refurbished phone warranty puts that risk on us, not you. It also keeps us honest. If we are on the hook for two years, we have every reason to test thoroughly, reject marginal stock and only sell phones we expect to last. That is the real point of the longer warranty: it changes what we are willing to sell in the first place.

It is also why every phone we sell has at least 80% battery health, with a minimum 90% option on many models. The battery is the part that wears fastest, so we set a floor on it before the phone ever ships.

What our 24-month warranty covers, and what it does not

The full wording is on our returns and warranty policy, but in short:

  • Covered: manufacturing faults and hardware failures that arise within 24 months, such as a failed charging port, faulty buttons, speaker or microphone faults, or a screen that stops responding on its own.
  • Not covered: accidental damage like drops, knocks and impact-cracked screens; liquid or water damage; misuse, modification or unauthorised repair; normal cosmetic wear; and loss or theft.

Claiming is simple. Email us with your order number and a description of the problem, we send you a free return shipping label, and once the device arrives we inspect it and aim to repair it within three business days. If it cannot be repaired, we replace it with the same model, and if that model is no longer available, we refund you.

Separately, you have a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If the phone is not right for you for any reason, return it in its original condition with its accessories for a full refund, with no restocking fee.

How the warranty sits with Australian Consumer Law

A warranty is a promise a business chooses to make. Consumer guarantees are rights you get automatically. The ACCC is clear that consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law have no fixed expiry date, last for a reasonable time given the product and its price, and cannot be reduced by any warranty. You can read more in the ACCC's guidance on consumer guarantees.

Our 24-month warranty adds to those rights. It gives you a clear, written two-year period with a simple claims process, so you never have to argue about what counts as "a reasonable time".

Where Mobile Federation fits

We are an Australian refurbished phone store, and the two-year warranty is built into the price of every iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel we sell. There is nothing to add at checkout. It is a big part of why customers rate us 4.6 out of 5 on Trustpilot across 336 reviews, as checked on 19 October 2026. If you want to understand exactly what condition your phone will arrive in, our phone grading guide explains each grade, and our guide to what a refurbished phone is covers how phones are tested.

Frequently asked questions

Does every Mobile Federation phone come with a 24-month warranty?

Yes. Every device we sell includes a 24-month warranty covering manufacturing faults and hardware failures, at no extra cost.

Does the warranty cover a cracked screen?

Not if the crack was caused by a drop or impact. Accidental damage and liquid damage are not covered. A screen that fails on its own, without damage, is covered.

Is a 2 year warranty normal for refurbished phones in Australia?

No. Several of the largest refurbished sellers offer 12 months as standard, as checked on 19 October 2026. Some offer longer cover as a paid or optional extension.

Does a warranty replace my Australian Consumer Law rights?

No. Consumer guarantees apply automatically and cannot be reduced by any warranty. Our 24-month warranty is in addition to those rights.
